The Nigeria Oil and Gas Conference and exhibition (NOG 2015) which took place at the International Conference Center (ICC), Abuja from the 16th through 20th March, 2015 may have come and gone but the memories from this epic event remains. Not only has the conference proven to be the reference point for all players and stakeholders in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector; it has equally grown to become an avenue where both regulators under the auspices of the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources and Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) as well as other government agencies and investors/entrepreneurs from the private sector both in Nigeria and overseas often meet to develop frameworks necessary for leaping the industry forward.
This year’s NOG brought together distinguished discussants (local and international) with in-depth knowledge in the industry; debating ways of establishing best practice as well as proffering practical solutions that would enable Nigeria to succeed in her journey towards transformation and growth. As usual, Nestoil ltd was at this year’s event to showcase what the organization have done in the past; meet prospective clients with a view of discussing our competence and capabilities as well as stamp the organization’s reputation as the one stop oil and gas services hub for Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning (EPCC) solutions in Nigeria and beyond. In addition, Nestoil was also able to showcase the variety of service offerings by the various strategic business units under the Obijackson group.
During this year’s conference and exhibition, another accolade was added to the numerous international and local laurels which has become the hallmark of Nestoil Ltd in its active engagement in the oil and gas industry, which has been characterized by doing the right things and doing things right. Nestoil Ltd was honored with “Nigeria Oil & Gas Indigenous Company of the Year Award 2015” having demonstrated high sense of commitment, mastery and duty during the periods under review by organizers of the event. This again buttresses her leadership intent and stands in this industry.
In his acceptance speech, Dr. Ernest Azudialu-Obiejesi referred to the vision of Nestoil as the rallying point for all operational guard in the company. From its humble beginning, the organization took up the opportunity provided by the near absence of indigenous players in the EPCC realm of oil and gas industry as well as opportunities accentuated by the establishment of local content laws as an invitation to indigenous companies to make landmark impact in the oil and gas sector. He said, “in taking up the self-imposed gauntlet and responsibility of becoming an EPCC company in a space where indigenous participation was meager at best or relatively nonexistent at worst, NESTOIL LTD recognized that the fact that it will have to surmount monumental hurdles to achieve its stated objectives. The organization needed to build critical technical and allied manpower lacking at the time but urgently required in a critical mass to perform and deliver complex projects.
All through his speech, he lavished countless encomiums on the human resources of the company who have been working tirelessly and assiduously to see that the Obijackson group which boast of the following subsidiaries: Energy Works Limited (EWT), IMPaC Oil and Gas Engineering Ltd, B&Q Dredging, Hammakopp Consortium, Shipside Dry Dock, Neconde, Century Power Generation Ltd, Nesthak, Time Power Global Dynamics Ltd, Nestav among others provide services across and beyond the hydrocarbon value chain.
Following the proceedings from its start till the end, the Founder/GMD Dr. Ernest believes that Nestoil Ltd is poised to breaking new barriers in the sector by innovative and competent engineering concept that will be adjudged as the best. He said, “We are moving faster than normal. Our barometer is clear “To continue our steady growth as an international Oil and Gas company that delivers excellent products and services in a safe manner.” This is what we do. At Nestoil, “we deliver results not reason.”
Finally, “As we are today honoured by the CWC, the organizers of NOG as “NOG indigenous company of the year”, we say a very big thank you to CWC for this recognition. Noting that, “when we set out to bridge the noticed gap in the services division of the oil and gas sector, we were not thinking of awards. If however our efforts over twenty-four years are being appreciated, we cannot but feel humbled. We will continue in our quest to give Nigerians the commanding heights in the operations of oil and gas services sector”.
